Carried out for the first time in November 2001, the International Sculpture Symposium, an initiative of Majuo Ciro Marcial Roza, gathers in Brusque artists from Brazil and for other 17 countries. Throughout one month, those artists sculpt 25 works in marble which become part of the collection of the City Historical and Cultural inventory.

Velislav Minekov graduated sculpture in 1986 at the Art Academy of Sofia, Bulgaria, in the class of Dimitar Daskalov. He specialized metal design in Hamburg with Prof. Jürgen Birthe. Velislav Minekov is currently professor in the specialty "Metal" at the Art Academy of Sofia, Bulgaria. He is son of the famous bulgarian coryphaeus in monumental sculpture Velichko Minekov.
Prof. Velislav Minekov deals primarily with sculpture and metal design. He helped in the organisation of two exhibitions of his students- "Scrap" (2007) and "Living in metal" (2010).
Prof. Velislav Minekov has solo exhibitions in Turkey and Germany. He participated in numerous international sculpture symposiums and competitions.
